El Paso Streetcar Launch Event

Target Audience: We wanted to give credit to those involved in revitalization the streetcar system for the El Paso community. The Streetcar Launch event targeted the public at large and those hard working individuals who helped bring this project to life. The public attended and heard how the interworkings of bringing back the streetcars functioned. In addition, we wanted the public to understand that The El Paso Streetcar system utilized refurbished PCC cars that once operated 40+ years ago.

Strategy Objective:We wanted to ensure that the public understood all the hard work that went into brining back this transportation system and promote its positive aspects. This strategy ensures that our passengers, partners and advocates take great care of our streetcars and continuously support its objective. It's an established comprehensive transportation system that will directly benefit all the El Paso community now and in the future.

Situation Challenge: We had a limited window to work with due to approval for operations. In essence, we had about 1 month to prepare for one of the largest events Sun Metro has initiated.

Results Impact: We have gained a strong brand awareness and engagement from the El Paso community at large. The engagement has grown significantly in the first two weeks of service. Our social media network followers have increased significantly.

Why Submit: Sun Metro strongly believes that the public should be involved in all of its new initiatives. This event not only allowed the public to meet those involved, it also created a unity between the residents, businesses and institutions along the systems' route and the long term positive impact it will have on the El Paso community as a whole.
