EAST JAPAN RAILWAY COMPANY campaign to improving manner for using railway (No.4)

Target Audience: The target audiences are the customers from overseas using JR East express trains and bullet trains, especially those who use "Narita Express", which runs from Narita International Airport to Tokyo Metropolitan.

Strategy Objective:We created the poster with the feelings of this; by making the foreign passengers to understand the characteristics of Japanese train cars and the manners of the riding Japanese trains, we would like them to get on the trains smoothly and would like to make it possible for the train to depart on time.

Situation Challenge: Vehicles with limited express trains and bullet trains have few entrances. It stops at each station in a short time while it takes time for the customers to get on and off, so frequent delays are happening at the departure time. At this time, if the customer get on from other entrances which are not crowded, or if the customers who got ahead goes deep inside of the car, the time become shortened and the train can depart at the fixed time. There is a problem that this situation is not guided or told enough.

Results Impact: We would like the foreign passengers to go to another entrance if the entrance is crowded, to organize their luggage after the train departed, or to proceed to the seats in the train car, to make it possible for all customers to get on the car smoothly. As a result, we would like to have all trains depart on time and run according to the train diagram rightly.

Why Submit: As the culture varies from country to country, railway vehicles and systems also vary from country to country. When we got on overseas railroads, we also had the experience of being confused by the difference with Japan. Through the poster, we would like the foreign tourists to understand the structure of the railroads and the ride manners in Japan. And we hope them to enjoy the traveling more safely and more comfortably. For that reason, we hope that this poster to be seen by many travelers.
