C-TRAN - Janitor-Hostler Feature
Target Audience: The target audience of this entry is C-TRAN employees, the public, and the special needs community.
Strategy Objective:Two members of the marketing team spent part of two graveyard shifts alongside the janitor/hostler team. We sought to capture what the janitor/hostler team's responsibilities are, and give them a chance to tell their story. We also interviewed the job coaches and C-TRAN supervisors who work alongside them. C-TRAN put together a short feature video and written blog post that we shared on Transit Matters, the C-TRAN blog, along with other digital platforms. All elements of the project were completed entirely in-house by C-TRAN staff.
Situation Challenge: Our marketing team wanted to highlight the hard work and commitment that C-TRAN's janitor/hostler team provides day in and day out. We also felt the need to share the importance of a long-standing partnership between C-TRAN and local organizations that provide job opportunities for workers with special needs.
Results Impact: The video and written feature helped increase public awareness on the important role that the janitor/hostler team plays at C-TRAN. The 'A Team Like No Other' blog post on C-TRAN's website has almost 700 hits, while the Facebook link has reached more than 1,800 people since it was published in August. In October, C-TRAN was recognized as the Public Employer of the Year at Clark County's annual celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, which honored the janitor/hostler team and the outstanding work that they do.
Why Submit: C-TRAN is submitting our Janitor/Hostler feature because of the impact it had on C-TRAN employees, the public, and the special needs community. The video captures not only the hard work and effort that the janitor/hostler team puts into its job, but also unique perspectives from their supervisors and job coaches who view them as some of the most highly regarded members of the C-TRAN maintenance team. It shone a light on an important group of people and the special needs community that doesn't always get the attention it deserves.
